Court rejects Applied Materials’ motion to dismiss

April 26, 2001 – Beverly, MA – Axcelis Technologies announced that the US District Court in Massachusetts has rejected a motion filed by Applied Materials, Santa Clara, CA, that sought to dismiss three of the four claims brought against it by Axcelis.

The motion was to dismiss claims of tortious interference and unfair competition. Applied’s motion did not challenge Axcelis’ central claim of patent infringement.

According to Axcelis, the court set a new trial ready date of late October due to scheduling issues. Previously the court had indicated a trail would commence in mid-August.
