DisplaySearch releases 2000 LCD numbers

April 6, 2001 – Austin, TX – A new report by DisplaySearch showed that the worldwide desktop monitor market rose only 2% Y/Y in 2000 Q4 — 36 million units — and reached 123.1 million units for all of 2000.

Desktop monitor revenues rose 8% Y/Y in 2000 Q4 to $11.9 billion, with 2000 desktop monitor revenues up 8% to $39.9 billion.

Worldwide LCD monitor shipments rose 15% sequentially in 2000 Q4, and 58% Y/Y to 1.95 million units, according to the report. Growth was significant in Q4, according to the report, but was still 170,000 units below expectations.

In Q1 2001, worldwide LCD monitor suppliers are expecting shipments of 2.29 million units, up 18% sequentially and 83 % Y/Y, the report stated.
