July 18, 2001 — Cleanroom design and construction company M+W Zander has acquired Knight Advanced Technology, a Chicago-based consulting, design, and engineering services company that focuses on electronics companies and scientific and research institutions.
M+W Zander bought all of Knight’s shares, according to company officials. The takeover was effective from July 1.
Officials from M+W Zander say the acquisition will add strength to the company’s engineering capabilities and will also expand current services into other high technology industries.
“We will continue to serve the industries where we have an established customer base, such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical and biotech,” said Tim Ramsey, president and CEO of M+W Zander U.S. Inc. “The addition of the Knight team will enhance our global market position and we will be able to utilize the expertise of nearly 200 additional experienced engineers, designers and architects. With the addition of the three new geographic locations, we can better serve our customers by providing the total facility solutions they require.”
Knight’s headquarters are located in Chicago, with additional facilities in San Francisco and Phoenix.
The integration of the two companies is expected to occur over the next few months.
