Cost-Cutting Measures Save Jobs at SCP

August 24, 2001 — BOISE, ID — Earlier this summer, cleanroom equipment supplier SCP Global technologies announced it planned to cut 250 jobs. Now the company says that number had been reduced to 155.

Officials are attributing the lower number to strict cost-cutting measures in recent months, according to a report in the Idaho Statesman in late August

The paper reported that the majority of this week’s layoffs – about 140 – occurred in Boise. The latest round of cuts brings the total number of layoffs for the year to 375.

The cost-cutting measures included a wage freeze and additional plant shutdowns.

“These efforts have saved jobs and positioned the company to better serve its customers through technology development and customer service,” company president and CEO Mark Peterson said in a prepared statement.
