August 23, 2001 — SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Daw Technologies Inc., which designs, engineers and installs cleanroom environments, recently reported net earnings of approximately $101,000 on sales of approximately $13.6 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2001. This compared to net earnings of approximately $536,000 on sales of approximately $15.0 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2000.
The company also reported net earnings of approximately $297,000 on sales of approximately $27.6 million for the six months ended June 30, 2001. This compared to net earnings of approximately $502,000 on sales of approximately $29.7 million for the six months ended June 30, 2000.
“We are pleased that despite weak economic circumstances, we were able to maintain profitability in the second quarter. The recent downturn in the semiconductor capital spending market and the general economic downturn proved to be significant challenges for us in the second quarter,” said Michael J. Shea, president of the company. “It is more important now than ever, that we continue to aggressively pursue our diversification strategies and geographic expansion plans that will counteract the inevitable business and industry cycles.”
Daw officials said the company continues to see relatively strong demand for its products and services in the European region.
