2C Computing Offers New Channel Opportunities in Clean Rooms and Other Untapped Markets

September 13, 2001 — HUNTSVILLE, AL — 2C Computing has launched a partner program enabling resellers and systems integrators to tap new markets through its Cstation C1000, a device that increases security and reduces IT costs by centralizing PCs in an enterprise’s data center without affecting users’ computing experience or choice of peripherals.

This solution lets channel partners sell into traditional non-channel territories such as trading floors, public safety dispatch and government secure sites, as well as cleanrooms and other areas of their existing markets that were previously out of reach.

Cstation lets end users’ PCs be physically relocated to a central computer room by digitally extending a PC’s system bus up to 100 meters over a single Category 5 cable. This “split client” computing strategy reduces infrastructure and support costs by enabling computing resources to be upgraded, maintained, repaired and replaced from a single location.

“Cstation solves many of the problems of specialized computing environments, ranging from the lack of physical security to environmental and space limitations,” said Michelle Lami, 2C Computing’s manager of channel sales. “For that reason, the Cstation Partner Program offers substantial new opportunities for the channel, both in growing existing markets and opening new ones.”

The ability to store computers in one central area, often referred to as backracking, is of special interest to government, military and financial organizations where security is paramount; with all PCs located in a controlled security room, access can be monitored and supervised. The remoting capability of the Cstation can also be used in settings such as cleanrooms, where the PC chassis can remain outside of the room for easy service while still giving users access to their keyboards, monitors and other peripherals
