September 6, 2001 — LAKE OSWEGO, OR — TSET, Inc. said it received better than expected results of independent laboratory testing of its Kronos technology.
The Kronos products tested were 5 to 9 pound standalone products that demonstrate significant air movement and air purification benefits. Tests conducted on Kronos products at MicroTest Laboratories in Agawam, MA and at the New Hampshire Materials Laboratory, in Somersworth, NH demonstrated HEPA Clean Room Class 1000 quality particulate reduction and up to 95 percent reduction of hazardous gases.
MicroTest Laboratories demonstrated the capability of the Kronostechnology to perform HEPA quality particulate reduction. By eliminating over 99.8 percent of the smallest 0.3-micron sized particles, the Kronos product tested can be classified as an ISO Class 6 (Federal 209E HEPA Clean Room Class 1000) particulate filter. The Kronos product captured 99.87 percent to 100 percent of particulates larger than 0.3 microns, as documented by MicroTest Laboratories.
“Achieving such a high level of particulate reduction allows Kronos to deliver a superior air movement and purification product, which reduces common allergens such as dust and pollen, as well as the particles found in second hand cigarette smoke,” said Alex Chriss, executive vice president marketing and sales of Kronos Air Technologies, Inc.
New Hampshire Materials Laboratory demonstrated the gas destruction capability of the Kronos technology. Tests were performed on six of the more harmful carcinogens known to be in second hand cigarette smoke, including Benzene, Ammonia, Styrene, Formaldehyde, Toluene, and Acrolein. These chemicals are considered to be high priority “toxic substances” by the Environmental Protection Agency. Documented results showed that after only a single pass through the Kronos product, 45 percent to 95 percent of these toxic substances were eliminated.
“By showing a significant reduction in the harmful components of second hand cigarette smoke, we can now make the claims that our product can deliver what customers in the hospitality industry are seeking but have yet to find with any other product in the market today. In addition, the specific reduction of airborne ammonia is a direct response to our healthcare and nursing home partners’ requests for a solution to problematic odors, including urine and chemical cleaners,” Chriss said.
