September 18, 2001 — FREMONT, CA — Engineering design and manufacturing outsourcing company Owens Design has added 600 square feet of new cleanroom space to its California facilities. The company plans to expand that to 1,000 square feet by the end of the year.
The facility now boasts 20,000 square feet of cleanroom and manufacturing space. The quality of the cleanroom space is considered better than ISO Class 7 (Class 10,000) and close to ISO Class Class 6 (Class 1,000), according Owens spokesperson Randy Curtis.
Owens designs and manufactures equipment for OEMs in the semiconductor, biomedical, data storage and fiber optic industries.
“The addition of our new cleanroom facility extends our ability to offer state-of-the-art manufacturing services for customers in key industries such as fabrication equipment for semiconductors, and it complements our growing range of OEM outsourcing options,” said John Apgar, president of Owens Design.
According to officials, the new cleanroom space is capable of handling semiconductor, biomedical and photonics related operations.
