October 9, 2001 — SAN JOSE, CA — CleanRooms West 2001 wrapped up this week at the San Jose Convention McEnery Convention Center. More than 200 exhibitors were on hand for the annual show. Contamination control professionals from all over the world attended the three day event, which offered tutorials, conference sessions and networking opportunities.
James M. Enos, vice president of The CleanRooms Group, said the comments of one attendee typified the overall atmosphere of the event, which had a strong turnout despite the September 11 terrorist attacks.
“An exhibitor told me he didn’t care how many people show up,” Enos says. “He said it was just great to be back to work, to be back doing business and spending time with customers and colleagues. A lot of people I talk to feel this way. They feel they cannot be afraid to fly or afraid to conduct business, and it’s really great to see that.”
The exhibition portion of the show got underway Tuesday morning with some words of wisdom from UCLA Head Basketball Coach, Emeritus, John R. Wooden, who spoke during the kickoff breakfast. Wooden, recognized as the most successful coach in college history, spoke of the formula for success. Attendees then made their way to the show floor, where representatives from more than 190 companies were on hand.
Conference sessions addressing a number of contamination control issues were held Monday through Wednesday.
