TSMC invests T$7.5B in R&D project

October 30, 2001 – Taiwan – Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd. (TSMC), has invested T$7.7 billion in R&D of the 0.13-micron manufacturing process for 300mm chipsets in the first three quarters of 2001.

The investment is 2.4-fold that of the same period of the year 2000. TSMC investment in the R&D in 2001 is expected to stand at more than T$10 billion. The company has started mass producing chipsets with 0.15- and 0.13-micron technologies.
