Chartered opens office in Nordic region

November 8, 2001 – Singapore – Chartered Semiconductor Europe, a subsidiary of Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing has opened an office in Stockholm, Sweden, to cover the Nordic market area.

Chartered said it is the first dedicated foundry to establish a physical presence in the Nordic region.

The company plans to use its local presence to better serve current and future customers and technology partners in the Nordic countries through closer working relationships and local resources that can be rapidly mobilized to support customers’ requirement for advanced manufacturing solutions and services.

Chartered has named semiconductor industry veteran Stefan Ahlquist as director, Northern Europe to head the UK, Benelux and Nordic area. Ahlquist has more than 17 years of experience in the European semiconductor industry. Prior to joining Chartered, Ahlquist worked as European sales director within Motorola’s Semiconductor Product Sector based in Toulouse, France.
