ITHACA, NY — MEMS-based product manufacturer Kionix has completed a new self-contained fabrication facility that includes 40,000 square feet of cleanroom and office space.
Company officials say despite sluggish business conditions, demand is high for Kionix’s silicon processing techniques.
“While many other industries are in an economic slump, our business prospects justify the expansion of our manufacturing capabilities into a new, state-of-the-art facility,” said John Galvin, CEO of Kionix.
High performance inertial sensors, such as accelerometers and angular rate sensors, will be manufactured at the facility. The company will also use the plant to continue developing devices for the biotechnology and data storage industries, among others.
