November 19, 2001 — ROCHESTER, MN — PEMSTAR, an engineering, manufacturing and fulfillment service provider to original equipment manufacturers, is installing a new 10,000 square foot cleanroom after partnering with Cirrex Corp. to manufacture Cirrex’s OCHIP (Optical Communication Hybrid Integration Platform).
The partnership will allow Cirrex, which develops integrated opto-electronic hybrid, subsystems, to expand its prototype assembly process of the OADM and transceiver modules into a full volume manufacturing assembly process.
“A product as innovative as the Cirrex module presents significant challenges in engineering product and process design. Through our technology roadmap program, the PEMSTAR ProCenter team has focused on forward-looking investment in key areas, including optical components,” said Allen J. Berning, president and CEO of PEMSTAR.
The new cleanroom facility will include precision automation alignment equipment developed by PEMSTAR. The two companies plan to begin manufacturing the first production units by next summer.
