Honeywell to build Thailand packaging components facility

Dec. 18, 2001 – Sunnyvale, CA – The Electronic Materials business of Honeywell will begin construction of a packaging components manufacturing facility in Thailand to supply the region with anext generation thermal and electrical interconnect solutions.

Construction for the HEM Thailand facility will be completed in mid-2002.

Proximity to end customers, opportunity for expansion, and the availability of quality labor all factored into the decision to construct the facility in Thailand. The new facility will enable HEM to better serve customers in the Asia Pacific region and will complement HEM’s existing Global Exact manufacturing facilities positioned throughout North America, Europe, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and China. All Global Exact facilities are certified under a single ISO9001:2000/QS9000 global certification.

“This new facility will bring advanced manufacturing technologies closer to our customers and will provide high-volume manufacturing in Southeast Asia, operating in tandem with our ‘quick-turn’ design and development facility in North America,” said Jack Bolick, VP and GM of HEM. “HEM is committed to becoming the industry’s leading materials based solution provider from spin-on dielectrics and metals in wafer fabrication to thermal and electrical interconnects for advanced IC packages.”
