Scios to Present at 20th Annual JPMorgan H&Q Healthcare Conference

January 2, 2002 — SUNNYVALE, CA — Richard B. Brewer, president and CEO of Scios Inc. will present at the 20th Annual JPMorgan H&Q Healthcare Conference in San Francisco, California on Monday, January 7, at 2:00 p.m. (PST).

During his approximately half-hour presentation, Mr. Brewer will review the status of the recent commercial launch of Scios’ flagship product, Natrecor (nesiritide) and outline the Company’s strategy and plans for 2002 to complete its transition to a top-tier commercial-stage biotechnology company.
