Jan. 30, 2002 – Newbury Park, CA – Semtech Corp., a supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, expects to get 100% of its silicon wafers from outside sources by the end of calendar year 2002.
As part of this plan, the company expects to close its last remaining wafer fab facility located in Corpus Christi, TX, sometime during the next nine months.
The closure of the Corpus Christi wafer fab is the final step in the company’s strategy to use outside foundries. Semtech will continue to do process development with the nine outside foundries the company purchases wafers from.
Semtech expects no significant financial impact as a result of the planned closure of the Corpus Christi wafer fab.
