1st Silicon, FTD Technology to collaborate

Feb. 26, 2002 – Kuching, Malaysia, and Singapore – 1st Silicon (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., and FTD Technology Pte. Ltd. have signed a worldwide joint marketing and technical support agreement.

1st Silicon is a pure-play wafer foundry with a 200mm CMOS fab in Kuching capable of 0.25- and 0.18-micron to be followed by 0.13-micron wafer processing. FTD Technology and its subsidiary companies are design solution providers of analog, mixed signal system design services, and IP.

Claudio Loddo, 1st Silicon CEO, commented, “Both companies share the same intent — providing quality manufacturing services of greatest value to our customers. Having a trusted service and IP provider strongly based in the Asia-Pacific market means we have enhanced our own capabilities in that market, as have they.”

FTD CEO P. Bala said, “We will coordinate the development, performance characterization, design flow verifications, and functional verifications of FTD’s cores based on 1st Silicon’s testchip layout and test plans, its Spice models, library, and 1st Silicon’s design rules. The rapid characterization and silicon-proving of our IPs and design flows will allow both companies to more quickly serve the needs of our mutual customers.”
