Feb. 25, 2002 – Sunnyvale, CA, and Milpitas, CA – Artisan Components Inc., a provider of semiconductor IP, and Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing have signed an agreement to provide Artisan’s 0.13-micron library products for Chartered’s advanced process technology in order to be licensed free-of-charge to IC designers.
The agreement also boosts the current product offering for Chartered’s 0.18-micron process with the delivery of a new I/O library with an expanded set of cells, the companies said.
“As chip design gets more complex and time-to-market windows continue to shrink, designers need increasing flexibility and earlier access to libraries to meet the challenges,” said Michael Buehler-Garcia, VP of business development and worldwide marketing at Chartered.
Under terms of the agreement, Artisan will develop a suite of libraries optimized for high-speed and density. The 0.13-micron products include generators for single- and dual-port SRAM, two-port register files, diffusion programmable ROM, and Artisan’s most advanced version of its SAGE-X Standard Cell library with expanded synthesis optimized arithmetic cell set and enhanced power management support.
A complete set of I/O cells in both in-line and staggered configurations will also be developed, the companies said. In addition, 0.18-micron memory generators and standard cell libraries will be updated to Chartered’s latest design rules and electrical models.
