Vitesse expands distribution channels in Asia-Pacific

Feb. 6, 2002 – Camarillo, CA – Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. has added Memec Japan K.K., part of Memec Components Group, as the newest member of its international distribution team.

Memec, a Tokyo-based component distributor, joined Vitesse in January as the newest member of its distribution network. Vitesse announced a similar agreement for North America in September with Nu Horizons Electronics Corp.

The agreement with Memec will simplify the customers’ access to technical support, design services, and applications support through local field application engineers, Vitesse said. The addition of Memec will also shorten lead times for Japanese customers by providing a local inventory of Vitesse products.

Memec, formerly Okura & Company Ltd., was established in 1983, before being acquired by Memec in 1998. The company now consists of 140 employees, and currently represents a number of companies including Xilinx, Analog Devices, and IDT.
