CoorsTek signs LOI for assembly contract

March 14, 2002 – Golden, CO – CoorsTek Inc., a designer and manufacturer of critical components and integrated assemblies for the semiconductor capital equipment industry, has signed a letter of intent with InVision Technologies, Newark, CA, a provider of detection and inspection technologies, to oversee the supply chain management of, and provide outsourced manufacturing and assembly services for its CTX explosives detection systems. These machines are used worldwide to detect explosives in checked airport baggage.

Combining its precision metal machining capabilities and plastics expertise with its supply chain management skills and assembly services, CoorsTek will produce units for InVision’s CTX 2500 and CTX 5500DS models.

As a result of heightened airport security measures demand for InVision’s CTX scanners has increased. Because speed to market is essential in this situation, InVision has selected CoorsTek, subject to finalization of a definitive agreement, to manufacture and assemble a significant portion of these systems.

CoorsTek will be an assembly provider as well as the supply chain manager for these CTX series systems. In this role, CoorsTek will be responsible for the management of all materials from procurement through final assembly. CoorsTek plans to deliver fully assembled systems to InVision for a final acceptance test.
