Applied Materials, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) has opened a new Process Module Technology Center in Sunnyvale, CA. The new facility is equipped with yield enhancement and automation technologies for the manufacturing of 100 nanometer and below copper-based chips. The 166,000-square-foot facility has approximately 39,000 square feet of cleanroom space, with ISO Class 3 air handling and has the capacity to house over 300 individual pieces of process equipment and support tools. The company expects its customers to use this new center as they would a pilot line for semiconductor manufacturing.
