DRAM chipmaker Mosel Vitelic mulls buying Hynix assets

May 20, 2002 – Mosel Vitelic Inc., Taipei, Taiwan, said it is looking at the possibility of buying assets from Hynix Semiconductor Inc.

Company spokesman Thomas Chang said that Mosel Vitelic is now evaluating the opportunity, and will see whether it can integrate the operations of the Korean firm into its core business, reported the Financial Times.

Chang said a decision would be made at a “proper” time, as both sides haven’t had “serious discussions” yet. Chang said that funding would not be an issue.

However, Chang wouldn’t disclose which part of Hynix’s assets Mosel wants to buy.
