June 5, 2002 — Dow Corning and NeoPhotonics Corp. said they are working together to develop photonic crystal optical devices.
The financial and scientific partnership will enable both companies to make and sell parts for optical communications. The effort combines NeoPhotonics’ work with nanoscale light-enhancing materials and Dow Corning’s silicon-based materials.
NeoPhotonics announced earlier this year it had secured $25 million in venture capital funding from more than a dozen investors, including Ardesta LLC, parent company of Small Times Media.
