July 24, 2002 — Affymetrix Inc., a Santa Clara, Calif., manufacturer of microarrays, announced today it lost $1.6 million in the second quarter, or 3 cents per share, 82 percent less than the $9.1 million in losses reported for the second quarter of 2001.
Revenues were $70.7 million for the quarter, compared with $49.5 million for the year-earlier period. Affymetrix expects third quarter product revenue from $60 to $62 million, according to a company release. The company’s stock was up $1.61 to close at $16.21.
