Flextronics to cut 1,000 Czech jobs

Singapore – Flextronics International, a manufacturer of electronic products, said it would close down its Czech plant and lay off almost 1,000 workers.

The company said the closure of its telecom equipment factory in the Czech city of Brno would be completed in several months, reported Reuters. The factory has been in operation less than two years.

Flextronics, which employs about 70,000 workers worldwide and makes a range of products including mobile phones and the Xbox game console for Microsoft, said the closure was a part of its consolidation across Europe.

“The production is going to Hungary,” Flextronics Europe Communications Director Jutta Devenish told Reuters.
