Microvision gets $500k army contract

July 12, 2002 — Microvision Inc., a developer of MEMS-based retinal scanning displays based in Bothell, Wash., announced it has been awarded a $500,000 contract from the U.S. Army to develop a flight-capable full-color display for demonstration in an Army helicopter.

Under the contract, Microvision will integrate its Spectrum display with a UH-60L Blackhawk helicopter to demonstrate a way to upgrade legacy aircraft to modern standards. The company expects to complete the design within 12 months.
