Motorola opens ESG Shanghai center

July 11, 2002 – Shanghai, China – Motorola has opened its energy systems group (ESG) Shanghai center.

The center initially provides design services and supply chain management for the Asia Pacific region with additional business operations, quality, and product safety centers to follow.

Motorola ESG provides energy system solutions for portable electronics including cell phones, personal digital assistants, notebook computers, and two-way radios. It leverages a broad range of technologies and systems expertise to deliver integrated energy solutions for many wireless communication and computing devices. The businesses’ range of services includes global manufacturing, logistics management, product testing services, technology assessment, licensing partnerships, supply chain management, customer support, and energy system design services.

ESG applies energy systems and components knowledge to deliver integrated energy system solutions for portable electronics, Motorola said.

“Motorola energy systems group is expanding its presence in Asia to demonstrate our commitment to our customers who require closer working relationships early in their development stages of portable consumer products,” said Padmasree Warrior, corp. VP and GM, Motorola energy systems group.

The Shanghai Center, the location for the energy systems group, supports Motorola’s business development strategy to deliver embedded electronic solutions. As Motorola China recently announced, the corporation has developed a five-year strategy that is aimed at growing with China by expanding its investments and utilizing a localization strategy.
