Nanophase evens out loss, increases revenues

July 24, 2002 — Nanophase Technologies Corp., a Romeoville, Ill. producer of nanomaterials, announced a net loss of $1.3 million for the second quarter, or 9 cents per share, matching the performance of the year-ago second quarter.

The company reported revenues of $1.66 million, up from $1.05 million in the second quarter of 2001. The increased revenue was offset by increased R&D expenses and decreased interest income, according to a news release. Nanophase stock was up 15 cents, closing at $4.65 per share.
