Omron develops miniaturized micromachined relay

Omron miniaturized the relay by using proprietary semiconductor processing technology that eliminates the need for external plastic or ceramic packaging, according to the company. It said it also reduced the number of constituent parts by removing the need for peripherals like high-frequency noise filters.

The company is targeting commercialization of the micromachined relay for large-volume data transmission and reception in mobile phones and personal computers for fiscal 2004.
