J&J links with Axon on drug screening ‘patch’

Sept. 24, 2002 — Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development LLC will use a patch-based drug-screening system developed by Axon Instruments Inc. and Aviva Biosciences Corp., according to an Axon news release.

Johnson & Johnson will work with Axon in final development of its PatchXpress 7000A drug discovery platform, used to test the effects of thousands of potential drugs for several diseases. The system uses Aviva’s Patch-on-a-Chip electrodes, which provide a microfabricated surface to which cells attach during testing.
