Sept. 27, 2002 — Researchers and developers of nanotechnology in Taiwan could receive tax deductions and other perks by November under a governmental proposal, according to Asia Pulse.
Taiwan’s Industrial Development Bureau has proposed that nanotech efforts become listed under the government’s incentive programs. A bureau spokesman said nano deserves such designation because its applications play a significant role in advancing technology and manufacturing, the report said.
Taiwan announced earlier this year it was spending $660 million over six years to create the National Nanotechnology Initiative. The effort seeks to help the more than 800 companies probing the frontiers of the emerging industry.
