Sept. 30, 2002 — Olympus Optical Co. Ltd. and PamGene BV have launched a DNA microarray for research and diagnostics applications, according to news release.
The FD-10 will go on sale in Asia on Tuesday, followed shortly by other parts of the world. Target markets include universities, pharmaceutical firms and food manufacturers, the release said.
In the system, probes of disease-related genes being targeted are fixed onto the 3-D porous structure. The technique boosts speed and accuracy of the gene analysis offered by conventional microarray methods, according to the companies.
