Sept. 23, 2002 — Microlab Inc. said PHS MEMS will produce its line of radio frequency (RF) MEMS switches, according to a news release.
Microlab said the deal allows it to move out of pilot fabrication in its own plant and into fully qualified production by early next year. France-based PHS will make Microlab’s RF MEMS magnetic latching switch, which enables numerous elements currently found in a mobile device to be squeezed onto one chip.
Potential applications for the switch include future “world” phones, which will operate at increasing numbers of bands or modes, and test equipment for integrated circuits.
