Samsung outlines nano strategy

Sept. 17, 2002 — Samsung Electronics Co. said it plans to make extensive use of nanoscale technology in future chips and other new products, according to Asia Pulse.

During a news conference Monday in Seoul, Samsung said nano processing will be employed to mass-produce the next generation of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips. The company said it has acquired the technological capability for making 90-nanometer architecture, which can be used to shrink devices to 70 nanometers, the report said.

Samsung said its 90-nano-class processing technology is a milestone in reducing the size and enhancing the capabilities of semiconductors.
