Sept. 19, 2002 – Seoul, Korea – Samsung Group plans to increase capital expenditures in its electronics-affiliated businesses by about 10 to 20% next year.
“We expect an increase of about 10 to 20% from the KRW5 trillion ($4.1 billion) planned for 2002,” said the spokesman who declined to be named.
Samsung Group’s chief affiliate, Samsung Electronics Co. has said it plans to spend KRW4.88 trillion in capital expenditures this year with nearly all of the investment allocated for upgrading chip technology, reported Dow Jone.
Samsung Group’s other electronics affiliates include Samsung SDI Co. – a maker of cathode ray tubes – and Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., which provides electronics components.
