Taiwan launches nanotech lab

Sept. 18, 2002 — Taiwan’s National Science Council (NSC) said it will formally inaugurate a new nanotechnology lab and chip system design center Thursday, according to Asia Pulse.

The center, established in the Tainan Science-based Industrial Park in southern Taiwan, will offer services to the academic and business sectors in the region. It also will offer nanotech-related courses, sponsor vocational training programs for engineers and provide graduates practical experience on equipment.

The NSC has earmarked $1 million this year for the project. Taiwan’s first nano center was created in January in Hsinchu.
