Altair receives order for more nanomaterials

Oct. 17, 2002 — Altair Nanotechnologies Inc. said it received another order from F.W. Gartner Thermal Spraying Co. for more than 1,000 pounds of nanometallic materials.

The order, which Altair said will produce $60,000 in revenue, will be used in thermal spray coatings for MOGAS Industries. The Houston-based firm makes metal-seated ball valves for industrial process control, mining and other specialty applications, and the spray application has improved and extended the service of the valves in extreme environments, according to a news release.

Altair began working with Gartner on the thermal spray pilot project last year. The work has expanded, and Altair expects sales to increase within the next year.

Altair, which trades on Nasdaq, was at 73 cents a share in midday trading, up from its close of 68 cents Wednesday.
