Corning launches lens for MEMS

Oct. 29, 2002 — Corning Inc. said it has launched a miniature lens that enables a significant reduction in size for MEMS and other optical parts packaging.

The 1-millimeter lens reduces the size and boosts performance above that of current lenses. Characteristics of the new lens are designed to increase manufacturing yields and improve thermal and aging reliability, according to a news release.

In other company news, Corning subsidiary Corning IntelliSense Corp. said it is expanding its partnership with Technovena Pte Ltd. to increase the availability of MEMS design software to Chinese developers. Technovena, which has offices in Singapore and Hong Kong, will provide sales and technical support for IntelliSuite, IntelliSense’s computer-aided design for MEMS software packaging.
