Kodak, Kionix make MEMS for imaging R&D

Oct. 15, 2002 — Eastman Kodak Co. has tapped Kionix Inc. to provide MEMS fab services at its new manufacturing plant in New York.

Kionix’s work for Kodak primarily includes etching ultra-fine patterns in silicon wafers. The companies did not reveal production volumes or specific applications, but said the work supports Kodak’s MEMS research and development efforts in information imaging, according to a news release.

Kionix said its plant, located in the Cornell University Business and Technology Park, was designed for high-volume production of silicon microdevices.
