Supertex launches IC for driving MEMS

Oct. 24, 2002 — Supertex Inc. launched a high-voltage integrated circuit for driving MEMS-based optical networking systems.

The HV254, a 32-channel, 250-volt amplifier array IC, is the first in a family of ICS based on Supertex’s standard semiconductor process technology. The company said the system provides adequate movement for an optical switch and time to switch from one optical fiber line to another.

Samples are available for order now, and a system demonstration board is expected to be available Nov. 15.

Supertex, which trades on the Nasdaq, closed Wednesday at $12.08, up from $11.41 Tuesday.
