UT-Austin, Navy sign nano pact

Oct. 7, 2002 — The University of Texas at Austin and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center signed an education agreement Friday to boost nanoscale science and engineering research and development.

In the partnership, Navy scientists and engineers will help develop curriculum and provide research topics and guidance to graduate students in the university’s Center for Nano- and Molecular Science and Technology. The students also will earn academic credits working on Navy-related projects, according to a news release.

In return, the Navy will be able to capitalize on innovations in the research and development of nanoscale products from the center’s faculty and its new Nano ManTech program, the release said.
