MUMPStart is the first fruit of the French MEMS firm’s acquisition of the former Cronos MEMS business unit of JDS Uniphase. Cronos developed MUMPS, or the Multi-User MEMS Process foundry service.

The package enables researchers and customers to speed up the MEMS product development cycle by providing a three-month license for MEMSCAP’s Pro CAD tool suite, one day of software training, access to an existing library of MEMS design elements and space on the company’s wafer runs, according to a news release.

Cost for the service starts at $10,000, and package is available from MEMSCAP and distributors. Software can be shipped immediately, and training is regularly scheduled, the release said.
