Nat Semi begins construction of semiconductor manufacturing facility in China

Nov. 25, 2002 – Suzhou, China – National Semiconductor Corp., Santa Clara, CA, has begun construction of its first manufacturing facility in China with groundbreaking ceremonies in Suzhou Industrial Park, the site of the company’s planned semiconductor assembly and test facility.

The new plant will include three buildings with 51,800 square meters of total floor space (about 550,000 square feet) located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) west of Shanghai. It is expected to begin operations with about 500 employees in 2004.

The facility will include a two-story manufacturing building occupying about 38,600 square meters (about 415,000 square feet), a three-story office and administration building, and a utility building.
