NOV. 4–SAN JOSE, CA– The slumping economy is no match for the will of the contamination control industry.
Depite rather lean times, conferences were well attended and received at the opening day of CleanRooms West 2002, which runs through Wednesday, Nov. 6.
A steady stream of traffic at registration booths began to form more than an hour before the start of the first conference session at 9 a.m.
Andrea Rollins, show manager, says on-site registration exceeded expectations.
“The overall response and sentiment among attendees is very positive,” says Rollins.
Ken Goldstein, principal of Cleanroom Consultants Inc. (Phoenix, AZ), and Michael Fitzpatrick, program director of Lockwood Greene Engineers (Tempe, AZ), were pleasantly surprised by the number of questions they fielded during the first half of their presentation “The New ISO Cleanroom Standards.”
“We’re running a little bit behind because of all the questions we’re getting,” Goldstein says. “We’re pleased.”
Other CleanRooms West 2002 conferences include presentations on electrostatic discharge, airborne molecular contamination in cleanroom components for 300 mm fabs.
At the time of the report, more 100 companies were making the finishing touches to their booths for the exhibition, which opens on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
One particular exhibit that is already causing some commotion is the chromed-out, 100-year anniversary Harley-Davidson Sportster, on which a very lucky attendee will ride away on.
