RF Micro opens office in Beijing

Nov. 18, 2002 – Greensboro, NC – RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD), the provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits for wireless communications applications, has announced the opening of a new sales and customer support office in Beijing, China.

The office adjoins RFMD’s new test and tape and reel facility in the Beijing Xingwang Industrial Park, which is situated in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area. The sales and customer support office will focus on local Chinese manufacturers, original design manufacturers (ODMs), and international manufacturers with operations in China.

Company president Bob Bruggeworth said, “As the world’s largest market for mobile phones, China represents a tremendous growth opportunity for RF Micro Devices. Our new sales and customer support office will leverage our rapidly growing presence in China and provide direct, local support to our customers in Beijing and throughout China. As we’ve opened offices in Asia-Pacific, we’ve seen a direct impact on our sales in each respective region. For example, our office in Korea helped generate sales growth among leading handset manufacturers, and our office in Taiwan is a major driver behind our success in WLAN and among ODMs. We expect similar success from the opening of our office in Beijing.”

Kris Rausch, Greater China sales manager for RF Micro Devices, said, “We are already shipping our current GSM and CDMA products in production volume to customers operating in China, and we see growing demand for our newest GSM, CDMA and WLAN solutions. Having direct, local support in China enables the company to better serve these customers, which helps to further diversify our customer base.”
