Capsulution receives patents for drug delivery

Dec. 13, 2002 — Capsulution NanoScience AG, a German developer of micro- and nano-based drug-delivery and diagnostics systems, said it has been granted several international patents.

The fundamental patents, from the U.S. and European patent offices, cover the manufacture of micro and nanocapsules by means of the firm’s Layer-by-Layer Technology (LBL). Patent protection includes the encapsulation of microcrystalline pharmaceutical compounds and production of microcapsules with nanoparticle-based walls.

Capsulution, a Berlin-based spinout of the Max Planck Institute, has signed partnership deals with several corporations, including Bayer AG.
