ASML receives favorable patent ruling from ITC judge

Jan. 30, 2003 – Veldhoven, Netherlands – ASML Holding NV said that an administrative law judge at the US International Trade Commission in Washington DC ruled in favor of ASML on all claims filed against the company by Nikon Corp. of Japan.

The judge determined that ASML had not violated Section 337 of US trade law, which governs investigations into allegations of certain unfair practices in import trade.

Nikon said that the initial determination by the administrative law judge is erroneous, and thus Nikon intends to file a petition seeking review by the ITC.
