Jan. 28, 2003 — The U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded BioForce Nanosciences Inc. a $200,000 grant for designing and testing a molecular analysis system.
The NIH’s National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering issued the grant with the Small Business Innovation Research program. It allows Iowa-based BioForce to continue development of its nanoarrays, which allow more than 1,000 molecular tests to be carried out in the same space occupied by a single microarray spot.
Applications include single-cell protein profiling, prenatal diagnostics, forensic testing, drug screening and minimally invasive clinical diagnostic testing.
