Intel invests in Crossbow Technology

Jan. 27, 2003 — Crossbow Technology Inc., a San Jose, Calif., designer and manufacturer of MEMS-based wireless sensors, has received an investment from Intel Capital, according to a company news release. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Crossbow intends to use the investment to advance its wireless technology.

Crossbow also licensed a reference design for a wireless communications gateway using Intel’s XScale technology, a platform for building low power, application-specific network devices. The company said the gateway will link Crossbow wireless sensors with standard wired and wireless communications networks.
