Feb 12, 2003 — Bandwidth9 Inc., a Fremont, Calif., designer and manufacturer of MEMS-based tunable optical components and modules, will wind down operations over several months, according to a company spokeswoman.
The decision was a response to client-provided market forecasts that showed it would take a minimum of three years to reach reasonable revenues for widely tunable transmitters in the metro optical market.
A few employees may stay on, while others have agreed to remain as consultants. Except for certain pre-existing samples, products will no longer be available, nor will products be supported, CEO Hatch Graham said via e-mail. Liquidation and sale of the business are both being considered, he said.
